I have a parakeet that is really favoring his right leg & or claw. Could it be just a bruise. I don’t want him to suffer. Do you think a regular vet would be able to help? Or do you think it will just heal itself? There isn’t any visual damage. But of course he wont let me near him. I only view his claw from a distance.
I could be a broken leg or foot. That won’t heal by itself. Many parakeets will favor a leg when the other leg/foot is broken. I would take your parakeet to an avian vet. Parakeets are good at hiding their injuries and can easily fool you into thinking it’s something minor. If it does turn out to be minor, at least you know what the problem is and can get it treated by the vet.

is he favoring it or is he just not using it? if hes sitting on one leg, he is probably just relaxing, other than that i dont know what else it could be
