My fiancee has gotten herself so embroiled in the idea of becoming a Reiki Master, that it’s just about driving me mad. If any of you know what Reiki is, then there’s no need for me to go into further details except to say, the person performing the Reiki does not touch the ‘patient". It’s all "energy" healing. My fiancee goes to meetings at least 2x week & has signed up for classes/conferences which cost approx. $250.00. I’m not a believer in Reiki. To be very blunt, I think it’s a bunch of hocus-pocus. I attended one of her meetings just last night & volunteered to ‘receive treatment’. I didn’t feel any differently afterwards. While we were all sitting in a circle, my fiancee mentioned to the others that there was a friend of hers who had horses & it was feared these horse might have contracted some deadly virus. The "master" explained long-distance healing. The people all closed their eyes. & the ‘master’ said a few words…sending the ‘healing energy’ to the horses. I couldn’t believe my ears. After that, the ‘master’ said he was sooo emotionally drained, that he felt totally drunk. I didn’t show any facial expressions, but thought it a huge pile of nonsense.
Also, rather than go to our own church my fiancee goes to some of their ’spiritual meetings’ on a Sunday for about 2 hrs. A while back I expressed to her that I didn’t believe in Reiki & asked that she not perform it on me. To that she said I needed to have an open mind.; not criticize, etc.etc.etc; this is her destiny, she was meant to help others, etc.etc. You get the picture. In all honestly, I’m beginning to think my fiancee is becoming a nutcase. She has no energy half the time, yet she sleeps approx. 10 hrs./night. After going to the sessions, she says she has put soooo much energy into it, that’s she’s tired. I can’t think of a bigger waste of money. I’m at wits end with this & don’t know what to say or do about it. Should I keep my feeling to myself, or run the risk of being accused of not supporting her ‘life’s journey".
Also, she gets interested in things saying ..’this is a passion with me’, then after a while, it’s cast aside. I don’t know anymore what she can hang onto and what she can’t.
I think this is probably better in the relationship section. You could replace ‘reiki’ with anything else that requires belief despite scientific evidence to the contrary.
If her destiny is to help others then there’s a load of other, valid occupations she could be doing like volunteering or finding employment in an established health area.
Find a job site and search through for adverts for reiki practitioners. Show her how hard it’ll be for her to find a job, ask her if she’s really cut out for self-employment. Unless she’s a practised salesperson (like her amateur actor/teacher) then she’s going to struggle to make any money, her business wil fail and she’ll have to seek other employment. Most of these scammers are experts at extracting money from people (as you’re realising) so it could be a long and expensive journey until she’s deemed ‘qualified’ to ‘treat’ people. If it was a quick course I’d say ride the storm, wait until she realises she can’t make any money and go from there.
Unfortunately she may well lose a heap of money to this fraudster before then. You might have to make some tough decisions and issue some ultimatums if you’re going to convince her she’s being duped.

A few months ago, my bf broke up with me. However, he kept calling me afterwards. I asked him to give me some space and I needed to get distance from him for a while.
We work in the same building one time a week. I had found that he had cheated on me but I didn;t want to confront him, so I became cold and distant until he was the one who broke it off.
I agreed with the break up and asked to be left alone yet he continues to initiate contact. What is up with this guy..cant he leave me alone.
Should I tell him about the cheating?
I didnt confront him, bc I didn;t think he deserved to know anything…he is a pig and I knew what I had to do…it’s his problem he is dealing witht he relationship and after me…I am over the relaship…the only thing is we are coworker and he does;t leave me alone…otherwise I would never see this loser again…
Tell him you know about the cheating, tell him you don’t want to be with a cheater, tell him he’s also a liar and keeps secrets, and tell him that you don’t want to be his icing on his cake.
and wondering if I should allow him to come to Dr.’s visits with me? I have been trying not to speak to him b/c the break up is so painful and I feel like I need distance to heal. I’m torn on this issue b/c I don’t want to go thru my pregnancy alone. However, I am doing that anyway, even if he shows face at Dr’s visits. He’s not here to rub my belly or even give me pillow talk any other time, so I don’t want the tease of having him sometimes. Is it fair to say no contact or does he have a right to come to the appt’s? I will Have to deal with him in 4 mos either way. I just really think I need this time to heal.
you know…i am reading the responses and i have to just say this…here is a place where people come seeking help, resources, advice, and a little perspective….but they don’t need to be lectured especially someone who is 5 months pregnant and doing it alone. you know what…she doesn’t need to hear how she is an "excellent example" of what not to do in life.

i just want you to know i am not judging you at all…in fact my first son was concieved before my vows…but i was lucky in that the man i had found was meant to be my husband. i felt judged by everyone but now people see my beautiful son and no one could ever call him a mistake or me an example of whats wrong with the world.
as far as your question goes. i don’t know what to tell you…i think the answer is in your own heart. you obviously still have strong feelings for this man or it wouldn’t be so painful.
hearing the baby’s heartbeat might "clear his head" a little quicker…or…
it may just make this all harder for you.
you don’t want to go through your pregnancy alone but i want you to know you ARE NOT alone.
you may or may not have him beside you…but there is support for you.
just love your child. be a good mom.
life will work itself out….it may be a bumpy ride but you WILL get through it.
